2013 GRID week 14 QB rtg

KC, DAL and DET has dropped into mid tier (12-22 ranking),
MIA,PIT, and CHI has risen into top tier (1-11 ranking)
TB has risen into mid tier (12-22 ranking)
HOU has dropped into bottom tier (23-32 ranking)
note: I noticed I should've had BAL in 2nd tier for week 11 GRID, sigh...

All this movement seems to coincide w/each teams winning SU this past month. We'll see who can keep it up for the last month of the regular season.

GRID - 2013 - week 07

GRID - 2013 - week 07

I'm really conflicted w/CAR and NE is a bit too high IMO as I think they've reached their ceiling for the season.

CAR has played w/the most conflicting of results and 'style'. Just when they seem to have got it together with a dominating home win vs NYG, the next game they lay a huge egg with a loss on the road to ARI after a bye week. Isn't 2 weeks enough time to get ready? Then the next week they seem to get lucky on the road w/another big win at MIN, yes it could be MIN as a team was distracted by the tragic loss of MIN RB Peterson's 2yr old son, so timing could be a factor.

CAR also had that week 2 game @BUF where they should have won, but loss. So far this season they have been an UP then DOWN team. Alternating this cycle each week, though W-L sequence is L L W L W, they play SEA very well in the opening game of the season. If CAR holds to form, this coming weekend, they'll lose inexplicably at home to STL .

So far this season, the GRID sorta works, but I may need to make a blob for the middle teams.
There's the good to great - 4 teams
the average team - 16 teams
the bad teams - 8 teams
and the really bad teams - 4 teams
Maybe a blob or mismash would be much better, but it might not be so easy to represent on a spreadsheet.

GB probably needs to be higher and CHI lower, but I'll wait for the season to progress, before making a change.

DET is also another 'maddening' team this year, playing to different halves during games, being penalty prone, and having a talent level that seems to be unfilled.

GRID - 2013 - week 05

I haven't been keeping up with posting my weekly GRID, but late is better than never I suppose for this.

GRID - 2013 - week 05

You'll note that I have pushed IND and TEN up much higher and have dropped HOU. It's just HOU TO's by QB Schaub are troubling. Schaub has yet to make that jump to elite, consider him good, but not great.

KC and CAR are also another notable leapers up the grid, while the NFC East is really playing so-so at best. I've also knocked down CIN, GB and SF. I've thought about flipping SD and DAL, but decided to leave it as is for now.

What maybe surprising to most is that I have BUF so high and that could be because of the way I rank teams, it doesn't correlate to a team's W-L record at the beginning of the season, but seems to do so toward the end of the season. I could switch BUF and MIA, but again I chose to leave as is and let the natural course of the season effect each team.

GRID ranking - week 02

GRID ranking - week 02

I know, I know, I have CIN above CHI and TB above NYJ, though CIN and TB lost to their respective opponents, I still believe they are the better team. NYJ was lucky to get the win vs TB and CIN appeared to "coast" too soon in their game, play calling especially was not aggressive. In both cases, TB and CIN may not have a great closer or 'killer' instinct, more play calling than on the players IMO.

TEN D is responsible for their jump, very impressive. It's their pass O that may cause them problems, but if they keep running the ball, they'll slug it out in their division. D's that were impressive (beyond the normal SF, SEA, CHI), MIA, NO, DAL, KC and PHI all were attacking and huge factors in week 01 wins.

GRID ranking - Preseason

2013 - GRID Ranking - Preseason

I had a much tougher time sizing up BAL/NYG/CHI and KC/TB/ARI than the rest of the ranking, they are nearly interchangeable IMO.

You'll notice the NFC slant/tilt as far as stronger divisions, I just feel that the AFC has a greater disparity between teams this year than last. Sure CAR and STL could be in the bottom 10, but who would you then raise into their place? DET? CLE? PHI?
Of all the teams in the bottom 10, MIA has the best D, but I suspect that their O will have issues this year.
JAC maybe the surprise team, if they start QB Henne and win w/run game, D and ST, but it appears they will start QB Gabbert and injured thumb on throwing hand, rather than sit him for the next couple of months, so I left them near the bottom.
BAL even though they are the defending Super Bowl champs will play the season with a target on their back for every game and I suspect with all their new additions will not be up to the task.
CHI is among the oldest teams (total starts, total career games), but due to new regime and lackluster preseason will need to surprise in regular season to move up.
MIN is the most complete team, except at the most important position QB and that's why GB for all their issues along OL still rates the highest in NFC North. DET has yet to show they can win several games in a row and if the opposing D can force DET O to look elsewhere (other than option #1 Megatron) than they've won.

Right now the AFC East except for NE should be called the AFC "Least", MIA, BUF, NYJ all have multiple issues to overcome. The AFC South and West aren't far behind with problem child teams. TEN needs to find a new QB, accuracy is the most overlooked factor by most pundits, management and their ilk (those who choose/draft/evaluate players) is the second and unless JAC upgrades their management personnel or perhaps just a wholesale change (which OAK and SD have done) they'll be stuck in the mud. OAK and SD should be much better next year, but for now they will be mired near the bottom.

SEA depth has been very impressive this preseason and should be ranked #1, but I guess they don't get the 'press' that the east coast teams and other older teams do. The whole team plays with hunger, we'll see if they go all the way.
